CBS Channel 17 News reported recently that a wrong-way driver in Scottsville Friday evening was arrested by representatives of the New York State Police after ramming a pedestrian, intentionally trying to cause several motor vehicle accidents, and attempting to run over a state trooper.
The incident took place around 8:00 p.m. on Interstate 90 near MPM 366 in the Scottsville area, when a NY State Police trooper saw a vehicle headed the wrong way, westbound in the eastbound lanes. Around the same time, troopers received reports of the suspect driver intentionally trying to ram other vehicles.

The trooper in pursuit observed the suspect vehicle pulling into the Scottsville Service Area, where he intentionally struck a pedestrian. The vehicle then attempted to ram the trooper, who fired his weapon at the suspect vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene of the accident onto I-90 eastbound while the trooper provided medical aid to the injured pedestrian that had been struck.
State troopers located the vehicle near MPM 363 around 8:40 p.m, unoccupied, but observed the suspect next to a nearby business and took him into custody in association with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. The suspect was charged with two counts of assault in the second degree, one count of reckless endangerment in the second degree, and one count of assault in the third degree and remanded to the Monroe County jail.
