The Babylon Village Patch reported recently that a tragic motor vehicle accident in Babylon, New York on the afternoon of Saturday, May 15, 2021 caused serious injuries to a teenage motorcyclist and led to the arrest of a Bay Shore woman.
According to a news release issued by officials with the Suffolk County Police Department, the incident took place between 4:50 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Saturday, May 15, 2021 along West Main Street, just west of Thompson Avenue, in Babylon. A Bay Shore woman, 21 years of age, was driving a 2011 Nissan Titan pickup eastbound on West Main Street when she struck a bicyclist, 15 years of age, who was riding southbound across West Main Street. The young woman then fled the scene of the accident.

First precinct detectives responded to the scene and apprehended the driver shortly thereafter at the intersection of Fire Island Avenue and Lewis Circle in Babylon, while the teen was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in nearby West Islip due to the serious injuries sustained in the wreck. The driver was charged with leaving the scene of an accident as well as possession of a forged instrument. She’s scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
