The Yorktown Somers Patch reported recently that a recent serious motor vehicle accident led to serious injuries for a motorist in the Somers area on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 in which she had to be extricated from her car by first responders.
According to officials with the Lake Mohegan Fire District and the Somers Volunteer Fire Department, the incident occurred near Windsor Road in Somers between 9:05 a.m. and 9:25 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the morning of Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Lake Mohegan Fire District responders were already responding to a situation nearby, so they were first on the scene with SVFD responders arriving shortly thereafter.

It took members of both fire departments to extricate the driver, and a medical helicopter was dispatched to a temporary landing zone set up at Jefferson Valley Mall, where it took the driver to a hospital in serious condition. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The New York State Police are investigating the accident. No other information has been made available as to the cause of the accident or whether any charges have been or will be filed as a result of the incident.
