Queens Dirt Bike Crash Kills Rider

A Queens dirt bike crash took the life of a 27-year-old man this weekend, according to AMNY.com

The accident took place on Saturday night shortly before 9:00 p.m. when New York City Police Department units from the 111th precinct responded to a 911 call reporting a collision of vehicles in the area of the intersection between 192nd Street and Francis Lewis Boulevard. Investigators report that a 27-year-old dirt bike driver was headed south on Francis Lewis Boulevard at a reportedly very high rate of speed when he collided with a Jeep driven by a 31-year-old male.

The rider was left unconscious with significant trauma to his head and body. He was taken to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. His identity has not been reported due to the need to notify his family first.

The Jeep driver is not suspected of any criminal wrongdoing and was not injured, although the crash is under investigation by the New York City Police Department Highway District Collision Investigation Squad. No other details have yet been reported, and it’s unknown whether the dirt bike driver was wearing proper safety equipment or was impaired in any way.
