The Putnam Daily Voice reported recently that a recent accident between a motor vehicle and a bicyclist on Saturday left a bicyclist seriously injured in Poughkeepsie.
The incident took place at approximately 6:20 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, November 21 in Dutchess County, at the intersection of Manchester Rd (NY Route 55) and Burnett Boulevard in Poughkeepsie, according to statements made by officials of the Poughkeepsie Police Department. A Lagrangeville man, 51 years of age, was driving a black Nissan Titan pickup truck through the intersection when he struck a bicycle ridden by a Poughkeepsie man, 58 years of age, in the crosswalk on the southeastern corner of the intersection.

The bicyclist was seriously injured in the collision. First responders rushed him to MidHudson Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Route 55 was closed for several hours while an investigation was conducted by the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit.
Responding agencies included the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, the Arlington Fire Department, and Mobile Life Support Services.
