MyTwinTiers / WETM Channel 18 NBC News reported recently that a police chase in Schuyler County led to the arrest of a man from Watkins Glen, NY on the afternoon of Monday, March 8, 2021.
According to a news release issued by the Watkins Glen Police Department as well as information from the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place between 1:00 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Monday, March 8, 2021 in Watkins Glen, NY. A Watkins Glen Police Department unit was dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident and, as they approached the scene, the unit observed a pickup truck that had been involved flee the scene of the accident. Officers pursued the pickup truck, but the driver refused to comply with efforts to get him to pull over.

The truck was eventually stopped after the pickup driver struck a deputy with his pickup, and he was charged with Reckless Driving, Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd degree, refusal to take a breath test, failure to comply with a lawful order, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, a class C felony, and reckless endangerment, a class D felony.
New York State Police and Schuyler Ambulance units also responded to the incident.
