Pair Of Accidents in SW New York Lead To Tragic Outcomes

A pair of accidents in the southwestern portion of New York state left one driver dead and another seriously injured on Interstate 86. Both accidents were single-vehicle in Chautauqua County.

Yourerie.com reports on a recent car wreck in the far southwest corner of the state, Jamestown, New York. A single vehicle drove off the eastbound on-ramp of Exit 12 around 5:00 a.m. Sunday, and according to New York State Police, the driver was killed on the scene. Along with the New York State Police, the Falconer Fire Department and Chautauqua County Emergency Services were dispatched to the scene.

According to Post-journal.com, another single-vehicle Chautauqua County accident left a woman seriously injured on Monday afternoon.  Chautauqua County EMS, New York State Police, and the Randolph and East Randolph Fire Departments responded to the accident. A pickup truck reportedly was headed westbound on Interstate 86 when it left the roadway for an undetermined reason and rolled over. The driver, a Randolph resident, was not wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred and was taken by medevac helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Both accidents underscore the importance of driving safely and maintaining awareness even in lower-traffic areas, as a single-vehicle accident has just as much potential for tragedy.
