WGRZ NBC Channel 2 On Your Side News reported recently that one person was killed and a second injured in Genesee County on the evening of Saturday, April 10, 2021 during an all-terrain vehicle accident.
According to officials with the New York State Police Department, troopers were called to an accident scene along Lockport Road between 9:45 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Saturday, April 10, 2021. A 2014 Can Am Outlander was reportedly northbound on Bliss Road, crossing Lockport Road, when for unknown reasons still under investigation it hit a rock embankment, causing the ATV to overturn multiple times.

The driver of the ATV, an Oakfield man 43 years of age, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the accident scene by first responders. A passenger, 55 years of age, was also ejected and was medically airlifted to ECMC by Mercy Flight with serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. Neither person was wearing a helmet, according to the state police.
The accident remains under an active investigation and an autopsy is scheduled for the ATV driver. NYSP officials took the opportunity to remind the public of the importance of helmets and other safety equipment when operating ATVs.
