The New York Daily News reported recently that a man from the New York City borough of Queens is dead and three passengers were injured after a motor vehicle accident along a Long Island expressway on Monday, March 29, 2021.
According to officials with the New York State Police, the incident took place between 8:25 p.m. and 8:35 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Monday, March 29, 2021 along the Southern State Parkway in Hempstead. A man from Queens, 27 years of age, was allegedly driving an Infiniti westbound on the Southern State Parkway at an excessive rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle while changing lanes near Exit 18 of the freeway. He crashed into the median of the roadway and then into a stand of trees before rolling back onto the roadway. The driver was ejected from the vehicle by the impact and was rushed to Long Island Jewish Medical Center where he died of the injuries sustained in the accident.

One passenger, a woman from Hempstead 21 years of age, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by rescue crews, and was taken to Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital, where she is expected to recover. The other two passengers, a 20-year-old and an 18-year-old, were taken to area hospitals, one suffering a broken pelvis. The crash is currently under investigation.
