Huntington Now reported recently that a funeral was held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 for a New York City Police Department officer from East Northport, New York after he was tragically killed in a DUI-related accident that occurred last week.

According to a news release issued by the New York City Police Department, the incident took place between 1:50 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 along the Long Island Expressway in the New York City borough of Queens. A woman from Hempstead, 32 years of age, had allegedly drank large quantities of alcohol and had a suspended license when she got behind the wheel of her 2013 Volkswagen on Tuesday evening, and she struck an East Northport man and a 14-year veteran of the NYPD as he directed traffic in response to a separate accident along the Long Island Expressway near Francis Lewis Boulevard. The police officer was killed by the impact, and the woman faces thirteen charges for her role in the accident.
The officer’s funeral was held at St Paraskevi Greek Church in Greenlawn and his interment was at Northport Rural Cemetery. Reportedly, thousands turned out for the funeral, including cops from four different states as well as hundreds of motorcyclists.
