Patch reported recently that a woman from Spring Valley, New York was recently rescued by a pair of off-duty Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department officers after they came across her car on fire in the center median in the morning hours of Thursday, January 28.
According to officials with the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department, an interstate police agency with jurisdiction over the length of the Palisades Interstate Parkway in both New Jersey and New York, the incident took place between 6:55 a.m. and 7:05 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, January 28, 2021 along the northbound lanes of the Palisades Parkway. Two off-duty officers saw a vehicle that had crashed in the center median area and caught fire, and began rescue efforts. They were soon joined by four on-duty officers, and the six of them successfully extricated the victim from the 2016 Acura she was trapped in.

The victim, a Spring Valley, NY woman 26 years of age, sustained serious injuries including severe head trauma and was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center by ALS and BLS units. She remains in critical condition. The Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Detective Bureau is investigating the crash.
The northbound and southbound leftmost lanes along that area of the parkway were closed for several hours following the incident.
