The New York State Police Newsroom reported recently that a tragic motor vehicle accident along Interstate 787 in Colonie, New York on the morning of Saturday, May 1, 2021 led to the arrest of a Watervliet woman.
According to a news release issued by officials with the New York State Police Department, the incident took place between 11:00 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Sunday, May 9, 2021 along I-787 in Colonie. An investigation at the scene determined that a Watervliet woman, 43 years of age, had been driving a 2005 Subaru Outback when she struck a guardrail, causing damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.
While interviewing the suspect about the accident, the trooper allegedly observed signs of impairment. The suspect was allegedly administered a standardized field sobriety test, which she allegedly failed, and was taken into custody. She was also allegedly found in possession of a small quantity of alprazolam and gabapentin, two prescription drugs that are allegedly often abused.

The suspect was transported to the State Police barracks in Latham, where she was processed and issued an appearance ticket for Colonie Town Court on May 24, 2021.She will face one count of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drugs (misdemeanor) and four counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (A misdemeanor).
