The Oneonta Daily Star reported recently that a tragic motor vehicle accident along Interstate 88 in upstate NY on Monday, March 8, 2021 led to the airlifting of a man involved in the crash to a Syracuse hospital for treatment of a head injury.
According to officials with the New York State Police, the incident took place between 5:25 p.m. and 5:35 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Monday, March 8, 2021 in the town of Sidney, in Delaware County between Binghamton and Schenectady along the Interstate 88 corridor, not far from the Pennsylvania border. A Utica man, 38 years of age, was medically transported to State University of New York – Upstate Medical Center following a major one-vehicle accident on I-88 in which his vehicle flipped and rolled along the center median of the roadway.

The victim was driving westbound along I-88 when for unknown reasons still under investigation he failed to properly negotiate a curve on the road and drove into the median. The vehicle continued along the median until it struck an earthen embankment and went airborne, overturning in the air and rolling upon the landing.
Passing motorists stopped to assist the man, and NYSP troopers as well as Sidney Police and Fire personnel responded to the accident scene. The accident remains under investigation.
