Sometimes, even the safest drivers can find that they have lost control of their vehicle. The most common cause of drivers losing control is weather. Rain, especially if it has been recent, can make roadways more slick than normal. Ice and snow can also cause problems that can lead to a loss of control. Another reason that people can lose control of their vehicle is overcorrecting. Overcorrecting occurs when a driver, for example, veers out of their lane or off road and turns the steering wheel in the opposite direction too quickly. Distracted driving and drowsy driving can also cause a loss of control, as can excess speeds.
