The Suffolk Daily Voice reported recently that a tragic hit-and-run motor vehicle accident along Burnside Avenue in Lawrence, a town in Nassau County on Long Island, led to significant injuries for a teenage pedestrian on the afternoon of Sunday, May 2, 2021.
According to a news release issued by officials with the Nassau County Police Department, the incident took place between 4:20 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Sunday, May 2, 2021 along Burnside Avenue, a thoroughfare on the northern side of the village of Lawrence near its border with the New York City borough of Queens, southeast of John F. Kennedy International Airport.

A young man, 13 years of age, was crossing in front of a building along the street when he was struck by what police investigators believe was a Volkswagen Passat, causing serious injuries for the lad. The Passat then fled the accident scene, fleeting east on Burnside Avenue toward the Rockaway Turnpike.
The teen was medically transported to a local hospital, where he was in stable condition and being treated for multiple lacerations to his face and legs. The accident remains under investigation, and anyone with info is asked to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
