CBS New York News reported recently that a recent hit-and-run accident on Long Island in the days before Christmas left a Lake Grove man dead and Suffolk County Police Department looking for the person who killed him.

The incident happened between 6:45 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) along New York State Route 347 at the intersection of NY 347 and Hallock Road in the hamlet of Stony Brook along the northern shore of Long Island. The victim of the hit-and-run accident was crossing the street from the south side to the north side when he was struck by a car moving in a westerly direction. Another driver spotted the victim in the roadway and called 911; first responders were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The victim was identified as a Lake Grove man, 54 years of age, who was walking to his job at a Marshall’s in a nearby shopping center.
Investigators believe that the car which struck the victim was silver in color, with damage to the front end or passenger side. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Suffolk County Police.
