Long Island News 12 reported recently that a deadly motor vehicle accident created chaos on New York State Route 25A in Mount Sinai late on the evening of Tuesday, April 20, 2021 as a high performance McLaren sports car careened into oncoming traffic and caused a head-on collision.
According to information from eyewitnesses as well as officials from responding emergency agencies, the incident took place between 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, along New York State Route 25A near West Gate Drive. A Rocky Point man, 33 years of age, was driving a McLaren sports car at a high rate of speed when, for unknown reasons still under investigation, he crossed the centerline of the roadway and into the oncoming traffic lanes. The car collided head-on with a Jeep lawfully traveling the correct way in those lanes, causing a horrific incident.

The driver of the McLaren was killed in the collision. His passenger, whose identity was not provided to press outlets, was seriously injured. Three occupants of the Jeep were injured although all are expected to survive. The accident remains under an active investigation at the present time.
