The Southeast-Brewster Patch reported recently that a tragic motor vehicle accident in Putnam County, New York on the morning of Monday, May 17, 2021 led to serious injuries for a Putnam County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
According to a news release issued by officials with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place between 12:35 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Monday, May 17, 2021 along Route 301 in the area of Canopus Lake near Fahnestock State Park in Putnam County, New York. A sheriff’s office deputy assigned to the patrol division was traveling west on Route 301 when for unknown reasons still under investigation his vehicle collided with a truck headed eastbound.

The impact was forceful enough that the Kent County Fire Department had to use the jaws of life to extricate the deputy from his vehicle. The driver of the truck was ejected from his vehicle in the collision, and both parties were transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the cause of the accident.
