ABC Channel 10 News reported recently that a man turned himself in to a State Police post on January 8 in connection with a December motor vehicle accident that injured two people on Interstate 890 in Schenectady.
According to officials from the New York State Police and the Schenectady Police Department, the multi-vehicle accident took place between 9:25 p.m. and 9:35 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the evening of Monday, December 28, 2020 between Exits 6 and 7 of Interstate 890 in Schenectady.

The preliminary investigation indicated that a man from Rensselaer, 38 years of age, was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-890 when he struck a vehicle driven by a woman 22 years of age. The woman was transported via Med Flight helicopter to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries, while the man was taken to Ellis Hospital for treatment. The accident shut down westbound lanes of I-890 for several hours for cleanup and investigation.
The man was charged with felony charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Previous Conviction), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree, Aggravated Vehicular Assault- Revoked License, and Aggravated Vehicular Assault- Previous Conviction for DWI. He turned himself into the State Police post in Princetown on January 8 and was taken to Schenectady County Jail to await his arraignment.
