The New York Daily Voice reported recently that an early morning crash over the weekend led to the second DWI arrest in six years for a motorist involved in the motor vehicle accident.
According to officials from the Scarsdale Police Department, the multi-vehicle accident, which was severe enough that reportedly at least one vehicle had its airbags deployed, took place between 1:15 a.m. and 1:20 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the morning of Saturday, January 2, 2021 near the intersection of Meadow Road and Hutchinson Avenue. One driver involved in the accident allegedly fled the scene of the accident, according to a crew with Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps, who described the fleeing vehicle as a dark-colored car with heavy front-end damage, which drove away on Hutchinson Avenue toward Weaver Street.

A Scarsdale Police Department officer located the vehicle and followed the suspect onto Stratton Road in New Rochelle, allegedly observing him swerving in and out of his lane as he proceeded down Pinebrook Boulevard and then Indian Hill Road before finally pulling over.
The suspect, reportedly a Westchester Schoolteacher 49 years of age, was charged with a felony count of driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and refusal to submit to breathalyzer tests. He had a prior conviction for DUI in 2015.
