WBNG Channel 12 News reported recently that a Pennsylvania man faces a long list of charges connected with his role in a violent attack followed by a police chase and car crash in the area of Barker, New York and Colesville, New York on Saturday, April 17, 2021.
According to information from eyewitnesses as well as officials from responding emergency agencies, the incident began on the afternoon of Saturday, April 17, 2021, at a residence on Ellerson Road in the town of Barker. A man from Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, 29 years of age, broke into the residence, which had two people inside. One of them, a man 71 years of age, confronted the man, resulting in a violent attack. The Pennsylvania man then fled to a different house and stole a set of car keys at knifepoint, then fled the area in the stolen vehicle.

A Broome County Sheriff’s Office deputy, after receiving a report of the incident, spotted the stolen vehicle and pursued the man along the interstate as well as local roads before the man crashed into a light pole and another vehicle on Colesville Road. He was taken into custody on counts including 1st degree assault, 1st degree burglary, 1st degree robbery, and fugitive from justice.
