The Rockland Report reported recently on a tragic motor vehicle accident in Montebello, NY that led to the death of one motorist and injuries to four others on the evening of Saturday, April 24, 2021.
According to a news release issued by the Ramado Police Department, the incident took place between 2:45 a.m. and 2:55 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Saturday, April 24, 2021 along New York State Route 202 in the village of Montebello, New York. Police units responded to reports of a one-car accident along NY SR 202 and found that the car had flipped over on its side with five occupants trapped inside. The car had struck a utility pole in the course of the accident, causing power disruption in the surrounding areas.

Four of the occupants of the vehicle were medically transported to Nyack Hospital and Westchester Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The fifth occupant was declared dead at the scene of the accident. All five occupants of the vehicle were under the age of eighteen years old.
The investigation is being conducted by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office along with the Ramapo Police Department Crash Investigation Team. The preliminary investigation showed that the driver, 17 years of age, was allegedly intoxicated. He was taken into custody by the Ramapo Police Department.
