The Long Island Herald reported recently that a deadly crash occurred on the Meadowbrook Parkway on Veteran’s Day, leaving a Freeport teen dead and several others seriously injured.
The incident took place around 7:15 p.m. when a Freeport High School senior, 17 years of age and a starting player on the Freeport varsity basketball team, lost control of his motor vehicle and struck the center median, coming to a halt on the right shoulder of the freeway. Two vehicles pulled over and their occupants got out to help the young man, but a third oncoming car, traveling northbound, struck two of the pedestrians and a parked car before coming to a halt. A fourth northbound oncoming car then hit the Freeport teen, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Five others were transported to Nassau County Medical Center, including one with serious injuries.
