The Brooklyn Eagle reported recently that two motor vehicle accidents occurred in the New York City borough of Brooklyn on the afternoon of Friday, February 26, 2021 and led to at least one fatality and multiple injuries, one in the neighborhood of Williamsburg and the other on the Prospect Expressway.
According to officials from the New York City Police Department, the first incident took place between 1:45 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Friday, February 26, 2021 on Prospect Expressway near 4th Avenue. Two cars were headed westbound on the Prospect Expressway and were involved in an accident; they pulled onto the shoulder and then were hit by a third car, causing a chain reaction event that pulled in four more vehicles and a MTA bus. In total, seven vehicles were involved in the crash. Charges are pending against the driver of the third vehicle (the one that hit the two on the shoulder) and they were taken into custody at the accident scene, although specifics haven’t been released at this time.
The accident closed all westbound lanes on the freeway. Eleven people were hurt, two in grave condition and three others in critical condition.

In the other accident, a man from Edison, NJ struck and killed a Brooklyn woman in a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Graham Avenue and Broadway later Friday afternoon. The police took him into custody shortly after the incident, but the woman succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.
