The Nassau Daily Voice reported recently that a Long Island man was killed in North Patchogue on Veteran’s Day in an accident between a motorcycle and an SUV.
An East Patchogue man, who was 59 years of age, was riding a 1974 MG motorcycle north on North Ocean Avenue when he collided with a 2017 Nissan Murano at the intersection of North Ocean and Woodside Avenue at around 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11. The Nissan sport-utility vehicle then struck a red pickup truck, which fled the scene of the accident, according to spokespeople from the Suffolk County Police.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, while the driver of the Nissan sport-utility vehicle was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries. Both vehicles that remained at the accident scene were impounded for safety checks by authorities.
The status of the red pickup truck and its driver have not been disclosed by police spokespeople at this time. Detectives ask that any eyewitnesses or anyone with relevant information about the crash contact the Fifth Squad at (631) 854-8552.
