Hit and run accidents don’t have to involve cars. As long as you leave the scene of an accident without reporting it to the police, you can get hit with this charge. One driver in Salem found this out. Patch.com reported on the matter.
The suspect was shown on surveillance video driving into a teen skateboarder in an intersection in Salem. Local media coverage of the collision caused the driver to come clean with police and share what happened. The police will be filing a criminal complaint against her for her actions.
The accident happened three days prior at the intersection of Ord and Aborn. The driver stopped and talked with the victim, but then drove off without exchanging information or notifying the police. Police later found the video that proved the suspect was at the scene.
