ABC Channel 7 New York News reported recently that one person was killed from injuries sustained in a freak motor vehicle accident in Brooklyn on the evening of Thursday, April 8, 2021.
According to officials with the New York City Police Department and the Metropolitan Transit Authority, the incident occurred along Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights between 6:55 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Thursday, April 8, 2021. A Metropolitan Transit Authority passenger bus was trying to navigate around a disabled vehicle on Eastern Parkway when it struck a pole along the side of the road. The pole fell and landed on a Brooklyn man, 59 years of age, as he was walking home from a birthday party with his wife and a group of their friends.

“Just missed me and hit him,” his wife remarked. “I was right next to him. I didn’t want him to leave me.”A friend of the victim was able to lift the pole off the man and he was rushed to New York City Health + Hospitals / Kings County with head and body injuries by medical transport. However, he succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the incident over the weekend.
The accident remains under investigation by local authorities.
