The Mount Pleasant Daily Voice reported recently that a man from the Bronx was arrested in New Rochelle, New York on Sunday, February 21, 2021 after a motor vehicle accident in Westchester that led to property damage and was allegedly caused by driving while under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants.

According to officials from the New York State Police, the incident took place between 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Sunday, February 21, 2021 on Interstate 95 near the city of New Rochelle, NY. Units of the New York State Police responded to a single-vehicle accident along the interstate. The initial investigation showed that a Bronx man, 67 years of age, had allegedly lost control of his Jeep Cherokee SUV on the southbound on-ramp’s acceleration lane and the vehicle became disabled on top of the barrier next to the ramp.
Officers allegedly determined the man to be intoxicated and he was taken into custody and processed in New Rochelle, with further testing allegedly showing his blood-alcohol content to be allegedly .15 percent, or twice the legal limit.
As the man had a prior conviction within the last ten years, his charge was upgraded to felony DWI. He was released on appearance tickets to a sober third party.
