CBS Channel 2 / WLNY Channel 10 /55 CBS New York Local News reported recently that a man has been arrested and charged after an accident in the Bronx in which an SUV struck a stroller carrying a toddler and then sped off fleeing the scene of the accident.
According to the accident report from the New York City Police Department, a Mahopac man 69 years of age has been taken into custody after a surveillance video showed him behind the wheel of a red GMC Terrain Denali involved in the accident. The accident happened on Monday, December 19 in the Bronx, where a grandmother 62 years of age was crossing a crosswalk with her grandson, two years of age. The pair had the right of way and were lawfully crossing the crosswalk according to NYPD sources.

They were halfway through the crosswalk when an SUV, turning left off of Mace Avenue, hit the stroller, the force of the impact taking down both the woman and her grandson. The driver got out of his vehicle and approached the pair, but then got back into his SUV and fled the scene of the accident. The woman reported neck pain for herself and a head contusion for the toddler.
