The Suffolk Times reported about a Northport teen that faces charges of driving while intoxicated (DUI) after a single-vehicle accident in which she crashed into a pole.
The 19-year-old Northport woman had been proceeding eastbound on Route 48 near Westphalia Road in a 2016 Audi sedan when she crashed into a pole on Saturday, October 17 around 5:45 p.m.. She was arrested by Southold Town police when they noted she was showing signs of being intoxicated.
The young woman was brought to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment, after which she was arrested for DWI charges.

Police also arrested a Greenport man for driving under the influence of marijuana in an unrelated Peconic accident last Monday around 4:00 a.m., in which he crashed into a PSEG pole on Route 25. While both the man and his passenger refused medical attention, the driver admitted to being under the influence and was brought to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital for a blood toxicology test. He was arrested and faces charges of driving while ability is impaired by drugs, a violation under state law, according to the accident report.
In yet a third unrelated pole-related accident, a Bohemia man evaded injury when he struck a different telephone pole in Mattituck early Sunday morning. No charges were filed for that crash.
