The Hudson Valley Post reported on a deadly off-roading accident near a Hudson Valley farm that ended a 50-year-old man’s life.
The accident occurred just before 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the Benson Farm, located at 355 Poplar Hill Road in Amenia, New York. The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident and is investigating the incident thoroughly.
According to the preliminary investigation by sheriff’s deputies, a 50-year-old man was off-roading in a 2018 Jeep SUV when he lost control of the vehicle and was ejected from the vehicle. The sole occupant of the vehicle, the man was pronounced dead at the scene according to representatives from the Dutchess County Sheriff. They believe the primary contributing factors include reckless vehicle operation off-road and a lack of proper seatbelt use.
Other responding agencies to the incident included the Dutchess County Medical Examiner, the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, the New York State Police, Wassaic Fire Department, Amenia Fire Department, Dover Fire Department, Amenia EMS, and Northern Dutchess EMS.
The investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit. While no further information is currently available, more information may be released in the future.
