The Suffolk Times reported recently on several motor vehicle accidents in and around the town of Southold that led to a man getting a ticket after he backed into a parked car, a dead deer and an injured woman, amongst other consequences.
According to the Town of Southold Police Department, a man from Greenport left the scene of an accident in a Greenport parking lot on Third Street last Wednesday, February 3 in which he backed his 2008 Chevrolet into another vehicle. The man looked at the damage and then left the scene; he was located a short time later and ticketed for leaving the scene of the accident.

One person was injured in a two-car crash that occurred last Monday, February 1 at the intersection of Wickham Avenue and Pike Street in Mattituck. A woman from Greenport was driving a 2014 Chevy north on Wickham when a Greenport man in a 2002 Chevrolet failed to yield at the intersection and struck the woman’s vehicle. She reported minor injuries.
In a third incident, a Mattituck Fire Department ambulance struck a deer on County Route 48 around 3:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) while in the process of transporting a patient to Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment. The deer died, but no one else was injured.
