Police investigators found black ice on the roadway following the accident and believe the truck was attempting to avoid another vehicle that had lost control on the black ice and lost control during the evasive attempt. The incident took place on the eastbound service road for the freeway, near Junction Boulevard in the New York City borough of Queens.
The dramatic incident was caught on video from several nearby residential complexes, and many photos and videos went up on social media from the fiery crash. Onlookers consider it a miracle that the truck’s driver wasn’t injured and that no other motorists were harmed by the wreck.
