The New York Daily News reported Wednesday on a fatal accident Tuesday afternoon when an elderly Staten Island woman was killed by a vehicle just outside her home, after coming outside to investigate the same vehicle hitting her parked car.
The incident occurred around 4 pm in the Bulls Head area near the intersection of Park View Loop and Christopher Lane, according to representatives from the New York City Police Department. A 77-year-old man driving a 2007 Honda Accord down her street hit a parked minivan belonging to a 68-year-old Staten Island woman. She exited her house to survey the damage and get the license plate number off the Accord. He ran over her in reverse, drove forward, and crashed into a grove of trees nearby.
First responders transported her to Richmond University Medical Center, but they were unable to save her. She succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The 77-year-old Accord driver was also transported to the same hospital. While New York City Police Department officers are still investigating the tragic incident, they suspect that the driver of the Accord was suffering from some type of medical episode at the time of the accident, rendering this a tragedy for everyone involved.
