Patch reported recently that a man from Central Islip was arrested by police early on the morning of Friday, January 8 after crashing a motor vehicle into a building in Blue Ridge, allegedly while intoxicated by drugs.
According to officials from the Suffolk Police Department, the single-vehicle accident took place between 4:50 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Friday morning at 576 Eastbound Sunrise Service Road in Blue Ridge. Officers responded to a call that a motor vehicle had crashed into a building in that location, and a responding officer arrived in time to see the motor vehicle flee the scene of the accident. Another officer located the car and its driver a short time later in Patchogue, in a parking lot off West Main Street.
No injuries were reported in the incident.

The suspect, a man from Central Islip 29 years of age, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and was also issued multiple traffic summons for minor offenses.
He will reportedly be arraigned at the First District Court in Central Islip on Friday, January 15, 2021.
