The Daily Voice reported Sunday that a Long Island motorcyclist was critically injured recently in a collision with a motor vehicle.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday when officers responded to a report of a vehicular accident on the Atlantic Beach Bridge in Atlantic Beach, a village on Long Island. A 46-year-old man was riding a bicycle, traveling north on the bridge, when he was impacted by a 2000 Chevrolet vehicle driven by a 27-year-old man, also headed north, according to Nassau County Police. The bicyclist suffered head trauma that was described as serious and was transported to a nearby hospital for trauma care. The car’s driver had no injuries.
The investigation is currently in progress, and as a part of that, the vehicle has had its brakes and safety features tested. No other information has currently been released by local police.

Another Long Island accident over the weekend, also reported by The Daily Voice, occurred when a Central Islip man was driving his 2013 Honda motorcycle in Brentwood and collided with a 2007 Kawasaki dirt bike driven by a Deer Park man. This accident took place on Suffolk Avenue near Fulton Street. The East Brentwood Rescue ambulance brought both men to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment.a
