The Putnam edition of the New York Daily Voice reported recently that a tragic motor vehicle accident involving two cars in the town of Beacon Sunday, May 9, 2021 resulted in two injuries to the drivers and an injury to a child that was on the sidewalk nearby.
According to a news release issued by officials with the Beacon Police Department, the incident took place between 3:55 p.m. and 4:05 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at the intersection of Main Street and North Cedar Street in Beacon, a city adjacent to the I-84 crossing over the Hudson River, sixty miles north of New York City. Two vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection, forcefully enough that one vehicle struck two unoccupied parked vehicles along the side of the road, while the other vehicle jumped over the curb and came to rest on the sidewalk.

A young boy, six years of age, was standing on the sidewalk eating ice cream when the accident occurred and the boy’s foot was trapped underneath the rear tire of one of the cars. Bystanders were able to push the car away, and the boy along with both drivers were transported to area hospitals with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
