The Daily News reported recently that a tragic motor vehicle accident on Ridge Road in Gaines, New York on the morning of Thursday, May 13, 2021 led to the death of a local man who had been pinned under a tractor.
According to a news release issued by officials with the Orlean County Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place between 3:15 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Thursday, May 13, 2021 in Gaines, a town in Orleans County. Emergency units were dispatched to 13945 Ridge Road in response to an incident in which a local man 72 years of age became trapped under an overturned Ford 8N tractor. When they arrived, the man’s son and neighbors had pulled the tractor off of the man and were administering CPR.

The investigation showed that the man was attempting to use the tractor to remove a small tree near the house on the property with a chain when the tractor flipped over and pinned him beneath it. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Orleans County Chief Coroner and taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office. The New York State Police, Albion Fire Department, and C.O.V.A. Ambulance all responded to the accident scene.
