WIBX 950 AM reported recently that a man was injured during a motor vehicle accident that occurred in the Bridgewater area of Oneida County, NY on Friday, May 21, 2021.
According to officials with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred in Bridgewater, NY between 2:45 p.m. and 2:50 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the afternoon of Friday, May 21, 2021. A man from Brookfield, NY, 39 years of age, was driving a 1999 GMC pickup truck along Bliven Road at the time of the accident.
Reportedly, a bee entered the cab of the truck and distracted the man from driving as he attempted to swat it. His vehicle drifted over the centerline and into the oncoming lane, then left the roadway and struck a tree.

The victim had to be freed from the wreckage of the vehicle by members of the Bridgewater Fire Department. He reportedly suffered injuries to his torso and lower leg. He was transported to St Elizabeth’s Hospital by West Windfield Ambulance. He was wearing his seatbelt, which likely limited the scope of his injuries.
No other information was released by the sheriff’s department and no tickets have been issued to either the driver, the bee, or the other residents of the beehive the bee came from.
