ABC Channel 7 News New York reported recently that a tragic motor vehicle accident along the Long Island Expressway in Ronkonkoma, New York caused the death of a Lake Ronkonkoma man in the evening of Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
According to a news release issued by the Suffolk County Police Department, the incident took place between 11:30 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in the Long Island town of Ronkonkoma, New York, along the busy Long Island Expressway. A man from Lake Ronkonkoma, 29 years of age, was driving a 2018 Honda sedan eastbound on the expressway when he collided with a 2017 Nissan sedan as both vehicles were attempting to turn left onto the exit 60 ramp.

The Honda stopped in the center lane while the Nissan stopped on the ramp, and both drivers stopped to ensure no one was injured. The Honda driver got back in his car, but his vehicle was then struck by an eastbound FedEx commercial box truck, ejecting the man from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. All eastbound lanes of the highway were shut down for the investigation, although they were later reopened.
