A major accident in Montgomery, NY, on Saturday morning resulted in the closure of sections of Interstate 84 for several hours. The accident also resulted in several injuries, including one serious, but non-life-threatening injury. Three tractor-trailers and two state transportation trucks were damaged as well.

New York State Police performed an investigation and concluded that a westbound tractor-trailer. traveling in the left lane, entered a work zone where two state transportation trucks were moving slowly as they were marking a lane closure with flashing arrows. Another tractor-trailer, also traveling west, tried to change lanes but struck the first tractor-trailer in the left lane. The driver of the second tractor-trailer then hit the two DOT vehicles, forcing one off the roadway. A third tractor-trailer failed to stop in time and hit one of the DOT trucks, causing it to roll over.
One of the tractor-trailer drivers was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center via a medevac helicopter with injuries described as serious, but not life-threatening. All other injuries were minor, according to first responders on the scene.
Traffic was diverted around the accident via Exit 28. All lanes were reopened by 5:30 pm.
