Oswego County News Now reported on an upstate NY hit-and-run accident that left one teenager in critical condition and another dead in Hannibal last Saturday.
The incident occurred between midnight and 1:00 a.m. on September 19, according to the New York State Police. A 29-year-old Fulton man was allegedly caught on a nearby security camera driving a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck on NY State Route 176 near Guernsey Road in Hannibal, halfway between County Route 7 and Route 8, as three pedestrians walked along the shoulder. The Ram hit two of the pedestrians and continued on without stopping. A sixteen-year-old boy was killed by the impact, and a 17-year-old boy is at Upstate University Hospital in critical condition.

The video also shows a sedan passing by the scene less than a minute later without stopping, although a spokesperson for the New York State Police acknowledged that it was dark enough the sedan may have not seen the downed pedestrians. “We know the driver of the sedan was not with the suspect and maybe they didn’t even know what happened. It’s a dark road, not a lot of people travel through that area, but if you have any information — please contact us,” the spokesperson said.
The truck driver returned to the scene but did not stop; clued in by damage to his truck, troopers pursued and flagged him down. He is currently in police custody.
