CBS New York reports on a severe vehicle accident in the Long Island town of East Garden City Friday night that left at least one person dead and a Florida man in custody for manslaughter after a utility truck plowed through an intersection on Friday afternoon.
The crash happened in East Garden City around 4:30 pm Friday when a Florida man behind the wheel of a utility truck came to a stop at the intersection of Merchants Concourse and Corporate Drive. According to eyewitnesses, he was acting furious, screaming and gesticulating, reportedly acting “crazy,” as vehicles went around the stopped truck. He then reportedly stepped on the gas and plowed through the busy intersection.
Police spokespeople stated that the man then hit five vehicles stopped at the intersection, hit a bicyclist on the Meadowbrook Parkway overpass, and then turned onto Stewart Avenue, where he collided head-on with two more vehicles.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a press release from the Nassau County Police Department, the suspect has been charged with 2nd degree manslaughter, reckless endangerment, and impaired driving because of the deadly rampage. The investigation into the deadly crash remains ongoing and further charges are possible.
