Crash In Brodalbin Kills One, Injures Two

Speeding is a common factor is a large number of car accidents each year. According to the NHTSA, speeding was a contributing factor in 26% or more fatal accidents each year. This causes a loss of more than 13,000 lives across the United States annually. Unfortunately, many drivers do not consider speed to be as significant a problem as it can be. One of the problems with driving faster than the posted speed limit is that the faster a vehicle travels, the faster a driver must react to ever-changing road conditions. Traveling faster means that additional space is needed to bring a vehicle to a stop. If a driver in front of a speeding vehicle must stop suddenly, the driver may not have enough time to stop. This can lead to accidents that often produce tragic results.

The Daily Gazette reports that one person has been killed and another two hurt in a crash in Broadalbin. The crash occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Honeywell Corners Road in Broadalbin on Saturday.

Police said that high speeds may have been a factor in a crash where the driver of a vehicle that left the roadway and then crashed into a tree. A front seat passenger in the vehicle died in the crash. The male driver and a female back seat passenger were both airlifted to Albany Medical Center Hospital.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
