Syracuse.com reported recently that a Cortland County accident occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, February 4 involving two motor vehicles, one a passenger car and the other a parked commercial delivery truck, leading to the death of one man and injuries to another.
According to officials from the New York State Police, the incident took place on the afternoon of Thursday, February 4 along NY State Route 13 in the town of Homer, NY. A man from Cincinnatus, 55 years of age, died in the incident when he crashed his Chevrolet Impala sedan into the back of a U-Haul box truck parked on the shoulder of the southbound lane of the roadway. He was pronounced dead at a hospital in Cortland shortly after the accident.

Two people were reportedly using the U-Haul box truck to make deliveries in the area. One of the two, a man from Jamesville 43 years of age, saw the car approaching and jumped clear. The other, a man from Delphi Falls 49 years of age, was looking for a package in the back of the truck when the vehicle impacted; he was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse by TLC Ambulance, where he was treated for neck and back pain.
