A Saturday wreck in Boonville, a village in upstate New York, has led to the death of a 42-year-old woman and critical injuries to a 38-year-old woman, both of Boonville, according to reporting by News Channel 2 in Utica.
The incident occurred near Taylor and Kerwin Road at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night, forcing State Route 12 to be blocked off between Route 28 and Dean Road while debris was being cleared and investigations were being conducted. A 22-year-old Liverpool man driving a Mercedes was southbound on State Route 12 when he attempted to pass another vehicle and hit a Chrysler Sebring head-on, occupied by the two women from Boonville.

Bystanders directed traffic and assisted with first aid until first responders from the New York State Police, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Village of Boonville Police Department, Boonville Fire Department and Forrestport Fire Department arrived. State Route 12 was closed for several hours according to the New York State Department of Transportation.
The Liverpool man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries along with his passenger, a 19-year-old woman. The Sebring’s driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition; the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
