A DUI suspect is in jail after killing a pedestrian in Costa Mesa
ABC 7 News New York reported on a terrifying accident in the village of Pelham, New York that left a couple shaken even after first responders used advanced technology to locate and rescue them.
The incident occurred on Saturday off Wolfs Lane in the small village of Pelham just north of New York City, when a car occupied by a married couple flew over a wall and plunged fifteen feet to the ground below. The man and woman were trapped in the wreckage as bystanders assisted police in attempting to extricate them from the vehicle.
Firefighters used one of their newest tools, a drone equipped with thermal imaging devices, to provide situational awareness, aid in the search for any other victims, and shine a light on the area as they worked to retrieve the couple from the vehicle due to the awkward location with very limited lighting.
Both victims were taken to a local hospital and are expected to make a full recovery, according to spokespeople from the Village of Pelham Fire Department. Those spokespeople praised the teamwork of the Pelham Police and Fire responders and bystanders who jumped in to assist responders by holding parts of the car clear and enabling rescuers to reach the wounded victims.
