New York City tour buses offer an easy, fun, and convenient way to navigate the city, see the sights, and mingle with other tourists. Because they are driven by trained professionals with special endorsements, they are statistically safe overall. Yet, that does not mean they are 100% safe all the time. Every year, tour buses get into accidents, injuring both passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists.
If you suffered injuries in a tour bus accident, you are likely eligible to recover compensation for your economic and noneconomic losses. Should a loved one have passed away due to the severity of their tour bus injuries, along with our deepest sympathies, we will help you by filing a wrongful death claim on your behalf.
An injury lawyer from Friedman & Simon, L.L.P., will seek damages to pay for your medical bills, lost wages, and other additional damages. We offer a free case review and never collect a fee unless we win your case.

Proving Liability for Injuries Sustained in a Tour Bus Accident
Compared to most vehicles on the road, New York City tour buses are big and sturdy. But that does not mean they will totally protect you from the dangers of an accident. Many tour buses lack seat belts, and some have a habit of cramming in as many passengers as will reasonably fit. Moreover, if you were an occupant of another vehicle or, worse, a pedestrian involved in an accident with a tour bus, its size and power might have worked to your disadvantage, adding to the severity of your accident injuries.
At Friedman & Simon, L.L.P., our job is to find out who is financially liable for your New York City tour bus injuries and hold them fully accountable for your damages. We will aggressively fight for the financial recovery you need to get your life back on track. One or more of several parties could be liable for your accident injuries.
- The driver of the tour bus
- The company that owned or operated the tour bus
- Another driver whose negligence caused or added to the collision
- The individual or company performing maintenance on the bus (if a defective vehicle component contributed to the accident)
The sooner you call us, the sooner we get to work for you. Call Friedman & Simon, L.L.P. today for a free case evaluation.

How We Build Your Personal Injury Case
Our injury attorneys will build your case by proving the following four conditions:
The Responsible Party Owed You a Duty of Care
We will first show how the responsible party owed you a specific duty of care. For instance, a tour bus driver has an implied obligation to protect the safety of their passengers as well as the occupants of other vehicles and pedestrians.
The Responsible Party Did Not Uphold Their Duty of Care
We will then demonstrate how the other party, because of their negligence or lack of concern, did not uphold their duty of care to you.
You Suffered Injuries as a Result
We will draw a connection between the other party’s breached duty of care and your injuries.
You Incurred Damages
Finally, we will list the economic and noneconomic damages you have incurred, along with their dollar values, as a result of your tour bus accident injuries.

- Handle all communications. We will communicate with the responsible parties, their lawyers, and the involved insurance companies while you focus on healing.
- Gather evidence. By reviewing the police report, your medical records, collecting witness statements and all other relevant evidence, we will be able to determine who is responsible for your injuries.

Transit Bus Passenger Receives $11 Million Settlement
Transit Bus Passenger Receives $11 Million Settlement
Overall, public transportation is a relatively safe and secure mode of transportation. In fact, public transit has about a tenth of the traffic fatality rate as automobile travel. Areas that are more public transit oriented have about one fifth of the traffic casualty rate as those that are more automobile-centric. Between 2000 and 2009, car or light truck driver and passenger fatalities occurred at a rate of 7.28 per billion passenger miles. Urban mass transit fatalities had a rate of 0.24 per billion miles traveled. Bus transportation had a fatality rate of 0.11 per billion miles traveled. Despite these statistics, accidents have been known to happen.
New Jersey.com reports that a transit bus passenger received an $11 million settlement for a crash at a toll plaza. Jimmy L. Jones suffered spinal injuries in a crash that occurred on May 26, 2016 in the Lincoln Tunnel.
The driver of the bus veered into a closed westbound lane as it approached the Lincoln Tunnel plaza. It struck the open door of a toll booth according to court paperwork.
Jones filed a lawsuit against New Jersey Transit, the driver, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He alleged carelessness, negligence, and recklessness.
Following the accident, Jones had to undergo a three-level cervical fusion surgery.
New Jersey Transit argued that Jones had a pre-existing injury.
The lawsuit was filed on May 3, 2017. As a jury was being selected in August, the lawsuit was settled. It was approved by the State Office of the Attorney General last month.
