CBS Channel 3 / ABC Channel 40 / Fox Channel 6 Western Mass News and CBS New York WCBS Channel 2 / WLNY Channel 10-55 News reported recently on a tragic motor vehicle accident in New York City on Friday, March 5, 2021 in which at least ten people were injured after a car crashed into an outdoor dining area outside a restaurant.

According to officials with the New York City Police Department, the incident took place between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Friday, March 5, 2021 near the intersection of Second Avenue and East 50th Street in Midtown. A white van heading south on Second Avenue rear-ended a black Toyota Camry between East 51st Street and East 50th Street, sending it spinning out of control. The Camry almost struck several pedestrians before hitting an outdoor dining structure outside a restaurant. The van continued out of control before hitting a food stand on East 49th Street.
Reportedly, the driver of the van suffered a medical emergency which caused the crash; he had a seizure afterwards while talking to police officers.
Ten people were injured, including the van driver, occupants of the Camry, and several pedestrians. The crash is considered an accident and is being investigated as such.
