Two tragic incidents led to the death of a local motorcyclist on Long Island and an injury to a construction worker in Clarkstown last week, according to reporting from the Daily Voice.
The Daily Voice reported on a two-vehicle crash Wednesday, August 12, around 11:20 pm in Smithtown. A 22-year-old Smithtown man was riding his 2007 Honda motorcycle northbound on Route 25A, when he was struck by a local teenager driving a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder. The Pathfinder had been headed west on Carriage House Rd when he made a left turn onto Route 25A and struck the motorcycle, according to Suffolk County Police.
The motorcyclist was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Pathfinder was not injured. The crash remains under investigation; detectives ask anyone with information to contact 631-854-8452.and provide any detail they can.

The Daily Voice also reported on a construction accident in New City, a hamlet in the town of Clarkstown north of New York City. The construction worker was working on the building of the NewCity Volunteer Ambulance Corps last Friday when he got his hand caught between the wall he was working on and a piece of construction equipment. Fortunately, New City Ambulance was on hand, as were Rockland Medics, the New City Fire Department, and the Clarkstown Fire and Building Inspectors. The injured worker was thus able to get timely medical attention and was then taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.
